Songs That Make a Change To The Chorus

A chorus is typically repeated throughout the song, but sometimes it will have slight changes to a word or line to help tell a story or convey a feeling.

These songs all some slight changes in the chorus or pre-chorus. Once you become aware of this, you’ll be more tuned into it in the future! Some examples include:

  • In Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, he sings “Does that make me crazy”, then “I think you’re crazy”, then “But maybe I’m crazy…”
  • Lauryn Hill, in Doo Wap (That Thing) sings “Guys you know you better watch out. Some girls, some girls are only about…” and then in the next chorus she flips the guys and girls.
  • In 7 Things by Miley Cyrus, she uses the first two choruses to say the seven things she hates about Nick Jonas, but then uses the final chorus to say the seven things she likes.

  1. Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett alters the last line in the chorus each time he sings it,
    1:”Some people claim there’s a woman to blame, but I know it’s nobody’s fault”
2:”Some people claim there’s a woman to blame, now I think, hell it could be my fault”
3:”Some people claim there’s a woman to blame, but I know it’s my own damn fault”
