Songs That Are 6 Minutes Long
We’ve shared playlists of two-minute, three-minute, four-minute, and five-minute tracks. Today we hit the sweet spot where pop songs stop being efficient and start being ambitious.
Click play on this playlist any time you need a soundtrack for a job that takes six minutes. Walk the dog. Reheat leftovers twice. Let a song take its time.
A Playlist for Your Six-Minute Moments
Six minutes is where a song stops being radio-friendly and starts building a small world. Epic closers, extended bridges, guitar solos that go somewhere. A few to get us started:
- “Hotel California” by the Eagles: 6 minutes and 30 seconds of slow-burn storytelling, closing with one of the most famous guitar solos ever recorded. Every second earns its place.
- “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John: 6:15. The song builds for almost four minutes before the chorus fully blooms, and the wait is the whole point.
- “Paranoid Android” by Radiohead: 6:23. Four distinct sections stitched into one song. The six-minute format let them get weird on purpose.
- “Roses” by OutKast: 6:08 of pure narrative pop. Caroline the debutante, André 3000, and a chorus that became its own catchphrase.
