Songs With Sequels

A song tells a story, and sometimes that story needs a sequel.

There’s the collaboration between Eminem and Rihanna for Love The Way You Lie. The sequel, Love The Way You Lie (Part II), tells the story from the female’s side, giving listeners an insight into why she keeps returning to her abusive partner.

A sequel can show a real progression in a character’s development. Take Baby One More Time by Britney Spears. In this massive hit, she sings “my loneliness is killing me.” Two years later, she returns in Stronger to proclaim “my loneliness ain’t killing me no more.”
